Online Graphics Day 2

By clicking here, you can view the bar graph that I made comparing data retrieved from NAEP and Per Capita Income by State showing the number of students currently on an IEP in WV and the next 3 poorest states. I also made an awesome crappy graphic showing what sports 5th graders play. If you would like to check it out click here! By completing this project I have demonstrated the ISTE/NETS standards 1, 2, 3, and 5. These objectives were met by engaging students in exploring real world issues, using digital tools and resources, using digital tools to analyze the information provided, and focusing on current research.

Online Graphics

Today we went to Kid's Zone to make a bar graph from information obtained from NAEP. The graph that I made can be found by clicking here. This graphic can be helpful in teaching by showing students graphs to present information, or having them make the graph to show me their findings on assignments. I demonstrated the ISTE/NETS technology by using digital resources to make a graph comparing issues, this tool would also clarify the students' understanding by using a visual image. It also relates to the standards in demonstrating use of new technologies.

Desktop Graphic

I have selected an image of the brain. I found the picture in google.com. I saved the picture in my pictures as a .jpg file and opened it in Paint. In paint I erased the labels. For school it could be used to identify parts of the brain in a quiz, or hand out as a study guide. If you were to double click on the image it would open up as lobes-of-the-brain1.jpg(image). It is 17.6 kb and is a jpeg image.

Dale's Cone of Experience

1. Dale's Cone of Experience is a model that utilizes several theories of the learning process. It shows that learners can retain more information by what they actually do, not hear or see. It shows that all-reading, hearing, seeing, and writing need to be incorportated into how one learns.
2. I do believe it to be logical. Individuals that are kinetic learners will learn more while actually doing the activity instead of reading it. However, it does not hold true for auditory learners.
3. According to the reading, there is really no proof how valid this model actually is. I do feel that there is some truth in the model. At least for some types of learners.
